Sessions 7
- Xtreme Vehicles
Join us as we engineer extreme vehicles including rubber band and wind powered cars and uphill climbing motorized trucks! Concepts taught include energy, chassis design, friction, gear ratios and basic electronics. Challenges include the steep slope, longest distance, and slug car challenge. Final day includes a chance to earn a medal during our in-class competition and prizes. - Battle Machines
Battle Tops and Battle Vehicles! Students will be engineering motorized battle top spinners and motorized battle vehicles that move and attack on our custom track. Concepts taught include gears, friction, inertia and basic electronics. On the final day, students will battle it out with their tops and tanks and have a chance to earn a medal during our in-class competition and prizes. - Amazing Ancient Structures
From the Great Pyramids of Giza to the Greek Coliseums, students will learn how these structural marvels went down in the history books. Through learning about pyramids, arches, and columns, students will engineer structures that can pass our in-class tests and find out if the ancients really knew what they were doing. Class challenges include the air cannon and earthquake simulator test! Students will have a chance to earn a medal and prizes on the final day. - Catapults & Trebuchets
Students will learn concepts such as levers, potential and kinetic energy, and force. Students will build different types of catapults such as a class 1 and 3 design and a trebuchet and put their projects to the test. Using conepts, students will build their best launching device, compete with eachother to see who can launch an object the furthest, and have a chance to earn medals and prizes! - Super Structures
In this fun hands-on class, students will learn the fundamentals of strong structures. Students will learn concepts such as strong shapes, joints, load bearing columns, and different bridge designss. Projects include the tallest structure and strongest bridge! Students will have a chance to earn medals and prizes on the final day. - Renewable Energy
In this hands-on class, students will learn about alternative energy and will engineer LEGO machines that can harness energy from the sun and the wind! Students will learn about solar and wind energy, and how mechanical energy is converted into electricity. Challenges include engineering working windmills to power a LEGO city and engineering a solar powered vehicle to compete in a solar race. Students will have a chance to earn a medal and prizes on the final day. - Race Cars 101
Students will be introduced to concepts such as friction, chassis design, aerodynamics, and energy, and how they play a role in cars. Students will be building projects such as rubber band, wind powered, and motorized vehicles. Projects include the distance and slug car challenge.
- Robo Olympics
Welcome to the LEGO Olympics where students will engineer different machines to compete in competitions such as weight lifting, high jump, soccer, basketball and more! Concepts include compression springs, levers, gears, and energy. Students will engineer projects such as a basketball, soccer, and high jump bot. Students will also compete in a final day Olympic competition and have a chance to earn a medal!
